Research has found that people are happier when they have more fun in their lives. Studies have also shown that the most happily married couples are happy because they have a lot of fun together. How much fun do you have in your life? How much fun do you have in your marriage? Do you prioritize opportunities to be playful and have fun together?

1. Increase Positivity: Research by Dr John Gottman has found that couples are more happily married if they have the magic ratio of, “5:1 Positive to Negative Interactions.” For every “one” disagreement, misunderstanding or hurt feeling, they need “five” positive, affectionate, caring or fun interactions to counterbalance it. Conflict is inevitable in long-term relationships and we need to be careful to not allow the conflicts to erode relationship satisfaction.

Four Humorous Marriage Advice Tips

While maintaining a healthy marriage requires hard work on the part of both partners, following humorous marriage advice tips can help you keep things in perspective and avoid allowing small challenges to turn into big problems. Here are five ideas you may want to try.

1. Don’t Fight on an Empty Stomach

While this may seem silly, it’s a fact that people tend to become very irritable when they are hungry. If your partner is getting on your last nerve, but your tummy is also rumbling, have a snack and give your blood sugar level time to adjust before saying anything. You just might find that you were reacting more to the fact that you needed to eat than a real problem. If you’re still annoyed after having a snack, maybe there’s something the two of you really need to deal with. Maybe you just need to re-enact the moment from your wedding reception where you fed each other the first bite of wedding cake! That just might make everything seem okay or put a small issue in perspective. If not, the act of rubbing frosting on your spouse’s face might at least make you feel better.

During an interview with Christian sex therapists Clifford and Joyce Penner, e-Harmony founder Neil Clark Warren asked, “What percentage of couples can attain a mutually satisfying sexual relationship?” The Penners responded, “100 percent of them. We’ve never worked with a single married couple whom we felt were incapable of attaining a high level of sexual satisfaction with each other.”

Couples often ask us how to keep the excitement in sex. Our answer: Stay connected. Being connected body to body and heart to heart is what makes sex fulfilling and fun. Here are 13 ways you and your spouse can have more passion.

1. Kiss deeply.

“Let’s Do Lunch” is One of the Most Overlooked Romance Ideas

The recession has caused many couples to focus in new ways to enjoy each other without spending a lot of money.  One of the more neglected romance ideas is really very simple.  Meet for lunch.  Yes, you can save money, but that is not the main benefit.  It’s a way of beginning to change your relationship in a way that says without words, “Honey, what matters to me is time with you, not how much money we spend…”

Improving Your Marriage

Creative Ways To Have Fun With Your Spouse

Being romantic is wonderful, fun and especially rewarding but unfortunately, many people make mistakes we all make in relationships that can simply undo all of the good that has been done by romantic efforts. For instance, every couple has disagreements and upon occasion the argument has a definitive outcome. The spouse that was right during the argument has two choices when ‘winning’- he or she can not see it as winning and simply move on or express understanding as to why there may have been some confusion. Or, he or she can gloat and make their spouse feel inferior and possibly humiliated. One works (the moving on one…) and one doesn’t (the gloating one).

Conflict is often unavoidable when two people from two different backgrounds with different beliefs are brought together. If you happen to be the one in a disagreement who doesn’t come out as the ‘right’ one or you don’t get your way, the worst thing you can do is to pout. It’s simply childish, not sexy at all and your partner will most likely have a difficult time finding respect for you as a result.

50 Great Date Night Ideas

By , About.com Guide

Continuing to date your spouse after you are married is one way to keep romance alive, say many marriage counselors and relationship experts. But no one ever seems to offer suggestions on where to go or what to do on a date with your husband or wife. After all, going to the corner bistro every Saturday night eventually loses its charm. To help you brainstorm for your next date night, here are suggestions (from the tame to the wild):

1. Pick up the ingredients you need to create a fabulous meal at the grocery store and then return home and cook it together.

2. Throw a slumber party for two. Have dinner in bed and have each other for dessert.

3. Plan a movie night. Rent a flick that you’ll both enjoy, make popcorn, and get cozy under the blanket on the couch.

4. Go for a hike or long walk together.
